DLSS 5 Swapper Release Notes

What changed in the latest Windows builds. Download v2.2.9 from the Download page, or read the official notes on GitHub.

DLSS 5 Swapper v2.2.9 — Four Tracker Faults

  • The installer crashed before it opened. On some machines DLSS5-Swapper-Setup.exe died instantly with 0xc0000005 — no window — while the portable build was fine. The installer framework read past the end of the per-user Programs path. This release is built with the fixed version.
  • Restore originals went dead with the files still in the game. An interrupted restore, a moved folder, or a rolled-back install showed "nothing installed" and a greyed-out button even though the backups were there. The app now offers the newest retired record whose files are still in the game, and the offer disappears once they are gone.
  • dgVoodoo2 flagged by antivirus. DirectX 8/9 used 2.87.4; engines flag that build. The app now downloads 2.87.5, still pinned by digest.
  • ReShade never started in a wrapped DirectX 8/9 game. Inside dgVoodoo the title becomes DirectX 11, and some setups load only d3d11.dll, never dxgi.dll. A ReShade file choice is offered for these games now; dxgi.dll stays the default.

DLSS 5 Swapper v2.2.8 — A Second Theme, Add-ons Current

  • ReShade as d3d11.dll. Some DirectX 11 games never load dxgi.dll, so ReShade never started. The game page now has a ReShade file choice: pick d3d11.dll and press Install. A game that is already installed is switched over for you.
  • A second theme. Settings → Theme holds two designs. Theme 1 · Classic is unchanged. Theme 2 · Aperture puts navigation across the top, a command bar searches everything (Ctrl K), a game opens as a full page with its own artwork, and motion uses the same spring. Light and dark work inside either theme.
  • DLSS 310.9.1 with the second-generation Ray Reconstruction model (Preset F). Safe graphics mode in Settings draws without the graphics card if the window flickers while scrolling.
  • Every add-on brought up to date: DLSS5-Feeder 1.17.0 (output stabiliser in the F8 panel, cleaner DX9 / Vulkan-under-Wine shutdowns), RenoDX DLSS 5 6.5.3, and the DLSS Tool build of 2026-09-28 for Multipass.
  • A second OptiScaler per game: the pre-SR multipass fork 0.8.92 on the OptiScaler build list. Nothing changes unless you pick it; the current build stays the default. Switching takes the other forwarder DLL away first so a leftover cannot silently stop the neural pass.
  • The driver warning is gone. 616.64+ faulted with the old v4.7 consumer, not the driver. The 6.x build passes the same self-test on 617.14. The question is asked only about a build known to fault. Multipass for emulators such as PCSX2; Feeder is still the recommended route.
  • Fixes: Multipass copies Streamline into games that never shipped it; a newer DLSS already in the folder is left alone; overlay copy names the real reason it cannot attach; SWAPPER on the icon; Community is the opt-in — nothing is requested from the server until then; OptiScaler download gets ten minutes and three attempts; a game card closes from the dimmed area; the F8 panel drives both RenoDX builds; DX11 and DX12 executables with the same name both appear in the picker.

DLSS 5 Swapper v2.2.7 — Your Card, Your Games

  • Filter by your graphics card. Pick your card in the Community filter — My card is always first — and see only the reviews from people with that same card.
  • Reviews for your games. Switch to My games and the Community page shows reviews for the games installed on your PC. Open any game in your library and what the community found is right above Install. My comments gathers everything you reported. Sort by most recent, most reports, or A–Z; every card shows which APIs its reviews used.
  • Notifications when someone mentions you in the chat, replies to you there, or reacts to your review or your message. Can be switched off in Settings.
  • DirectDraw now installs dgVoodoo. It was downloaded only for DX8 and DX9, so every DirectDraw game failed — Gens and the other emulators included.
  • Prey, Titanfall 2, Call of Duty 2, and Max Payne no longer read as "No 3D executable" when the renderer is a DLL beside the executable. A Direct3D library in that folder is enough. Portal is no longer filed under Half-Life 2 because both run hl2.exe.
  • Fixes: the read-only ReShade.ini banner is checked once at start for every game this app installed; Program Files installs that fail with EPERM now say to run as administrator or move the game; the driver warning is a warning, not a wall — many people run newer drivers, especially with MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner closed; "DLSS was installed normally" no longer appears before the install finishes; uninstalling never touches game folders and now points to Restore originals first.

DLSS 5 Swapper v2.2.6 — Community Chat

  • Community chat: one live room under Games. Paste, drop or pick up to four screenshots — compressed on your machine, expire after 24 hours. Tag one DLSS 5 ON or DLSS 5 OFF so a comparison reads without explaining it. Attach a game card from the Community page; replies, mentions, reactions; edit or delete your own messages. New messages arrive while you read, an unread count waits on the sidebar, and a half-written message survives leaving the page. Uses the community name from Settings.
  • Native DLSS (RenoDX) no longer installs the Multipass consumer. 2.2.5 picked the first .addon64 in the folder; the Multipass build sorted first. The add-on is chosen by name now. If you installed Native DLSS with 2.2.5, press Install again on the same route, or Restore originals to undo it.
  • Two RenoDX consumers can no longer sit side by side. Both register as "RenoDX DLSS"; ReShade keeps whichever loads first. An install now moves any other renodx-dlss* add-on beside the game into the backup; Restore originals puts yours back.
  • Hidden Feeder Multipass switch is gone — leftover from development, with no way to see it or turn it off. Multipass comes only from its own route.
  • Community dropdowns in the dark theme no longer draw white text on a white popup. Every dropdown takes a solid colour from the theme.

DLSS 5 Swapper v2.2.5 — Multipass

  • Multipass is a fourth installation route (RenoDX DLSS Tool). It runs the neural pass up to ten times per frame, including games with no native DLSS. Supports DX12, DX11, and 64-bit DX9 — not 32-bit DX9, OpenGL, or Vulkan. Press Home in game for Pass Count; the F8 panel does not drive this route. Start at two or three passes.
  • Keep running in the tray: closing the window hides the app instead of quitting, so the overlay keeps answering the game. On by default, switchable in Settings.
  • On-screen DLSS 5 status: a draggable, resizable On/Off card over the game, remembered per title — useful when recording a comparison.
  • Driver 616.64 and newer fault inside NVIDIA's neural runtime. The app now asks once per driver version and still lets you install. 616.56 is the last driver measured to complete a neural pass.
  • DirectDraw emulators such as Gens and Kega Fusion are recognised. dgVoodoo already translates DirectDraw for DX8/DX9.
  • Per-game OptiScaler: 0.2.0-patch1 or 0.1.1.5, both pinned by URL and digest. Feeder 0.15.1 adds an HDR10 bridge and its F8 controls.
  • Fixes: dead Feeder overlay sliders; clearer "No 3D executable" for empty folders vs Source/X-Ray engines; Unreal folders no longer become Engine/Binaries; read-only ReShade.ini clears on launch; overlay resize grip and panel-open state; Games header stays visible.

DLSS 5 Swapper v2.2.4 — Community Page

  • Community page (BETA, opt-in): see what other people reported on games you own — route, rendering API, whether it worked, and on what hardware. Threads, reactions, replies, and @mentions; edit or delete your own reports. Display name plus one of 24 theme-coloured icons. Nothing is sent unless you submit a report by hand.
  • Xbox games are found without scanning every drive. The overlay can install into protected Xbox executables using the architecture the scanner already established.
  • Real Windows debug helpers (dbghelp.dll / dbgcore.dll) are no longer treated as a competing loader — so Cyberpunk 2077 can take OptiScaler again.
  • Clearer failures: antivirus removing the overlay add-on is named; the portable build unpacks to %TEMP%\DLSS5-Swapper; a skipped overlay says why; a failed update check no longer looks like "you are current".
  • Overlay panel can be resized by dragging the corner (0.75x–2.5x), remembered per game.
  • dgVoodoo emulated video memory ceiling raised so modern-resolution DX9 frames can finish.

DLSS 5 Swapper v2.2.3 — Six Reported Faults

  • Older cards can try OptiScaler. The bundled neural model still needs Blackwell, but a modded nvngx_dlssnr.dll already in the game folder is kept, never overwritten.
  • A failed process check no longer pretends the game is still open. PowerShell or WMI failures are reported as themselves.
  • Invalid backend profile no longer blocks reinstall when a ReShade preset was saved as .txt.
  • Outdated D3DCompiler_47.dll beside the executable (for example Spider-Man Remastered's 2013 copy) is backed up during install so the neural pass can compile. Restore puts it back.
  • Overlay on scaled displays: the panel is resampled instead of being dropped in silence at 125% / 150% desktop scale.
  • Feeder route is named No DLSS / Incompatible DLSS in all 38 languages.

DLSS 5 Swapper v2.2.2 — Your Reports, Fixed

  • Executables with no readable renderer (protected builds, script extenders, thin launchers) now appear in the picker so you can set the API override. Ubisoft Connect games are discovered. DXVK / vkd3d titles are reported as Vulkan. RDR2 follows system.xml. Kingdom Come: Deliverance I/II are detected via WHGame.dll. Libraries are re-scanned once after this update.
  • Overlay: a crashed game no longer locks the panel out of every game after it. The Overlay page shows listening / connected / not running.
  • Writable installs: copied files keep a writable ReShade.ini, so the on-screen preset error, second install, and restore no longer fail for that reason.
  • Feeder Vulkan interop ships with Vulkan games. An older NVIDIA driver no longer blocks OptiScaler; the app warns that 616.64+ can fault inside NVIDIA's runtime. Professional Blackwell boards (for example RTX PRO 6000) are accepted.
  • Everyday: sidebar update notice; hiding a game is reversible; closing the window actually quits; only one app instance; faster start; support button on About.
  • Components: Feeder 0.14.0-beta.4 and OptiScaler DLSS-NR 0.2.0-patch1.

DLSS 5 Swapper v2.2.1 — In-Game Overlay

  • In-game overlay: press F8 and the app's own panel appears over the running game — the same HTML, fonts, and sliders, wired to the DLSS Neural Rendering settings that are actually loaded.
  • The game holds still while the panel is open. No mouse or keyboard input reaches the game, so a slider can be judged on one fixed shot.
  • Real RenoDX v4.7 controls, not a mock-up. The panel drives Structure Intensity, Tone Intensity, the character mask, NR Style A/B/C, Diffuse White, motion scale, and the rest. DLSS5-Feeder and RenoDX v4.7 only, on 64-bit DirectX 11 / 12 games with ReShade add-on support.
  • Install it with DLSS from one switch on the Overlay page. Change the hotkey (Ctrl / Alt / Shift combinations are supported; Home and Escape stay reserved for ReShade), or remove the overlay without touching DLSS. A new overlay build now replaces the previous one instead of refusing to install over it.
  • Themes: Emerald, Azure, and Amethyst, plus Create theme — pick an accent colour and the panel's other shades are derived from it, in the app and in the game.
  • Library artwork for everyone: posters and banners now come from Steam's public endpoints with no key.
  • Per-game rendering API override is optional, with Automatic as the default. Use it when a title reports the wrong renderer.
  • Fixes: the overlay connection line no longer says Disconnected while the badge reads CONNECTED; overlay dialogs follow the app's light and dark themes; theme cards render correctly in Arabic, Persian, and Urdu.

DLSS 5 Swapper v2.2.0 — Optional OptiScaler & Smarter Library

  • Optional OptiScaler DLSS-NR per game. ReShade stays the default. Requires an RTX 50 card, NVIDIA driver 616.56+, and a 64-bit game with native DLSS enabled — not a route for non-DLSS games or emulators.
  • Library search and filters: real-time search plus API, DLSS status/version, and add-on filters. Clickable counters for DX12, DLSS presence, and ready-to-install titles.
  • Everyday usability: one unified library if you turn off grouping by store, right-click menus on Games and Recent Games, and a repaired History that records installs, backend changes, and restores independently of the current backup.
  • 38-language translations for search, filters, compatibility warnings, and confirmation dialogs, including right-to-left layout.
  • Safer installs and restores: Feeder 0.12.0, official dgVoodoo2 2.87.4 for DX8/DX9, better executable detection, a recovery journal on failed writes, and Restore originals even when the executable is missing.
  • Emulators and scanning: select the emulator folder and its active renderer, then use ReShade/Feeder. Full-drive scanning stays off by default.
  • Anti-cheat: detected titles show a red warning and an explicit choice. Installation is optional, not globally blocked. The app never disables or bypasses anti-cheat.
